Alors qu’il tourne un documentaire à Marrakech, Gérard dirige sa caméra sur un jeune Marocain, Saïd. Un coup de coeur s’en suit qui fait courir Gérard aux quatre coins du Maroc, à la poursuite d’un “amour-mirage”. Attiré par l’Occident et par Gérard, Saïd offre son corps d’athlète et ses sentiments empreints de poésie.
Dans la beauté des paysages, on assiste à la fascination et à l’incompréhension culturelle entre les deux hommes.

It is noteworthy that both French – and Tunisian – born directors have also made films on Maghreb-based sexual citizens. These include, for example, Nouri Bouzid’s L’Homme des cendres (1986), and Bezness (1992), as well as Philippe Vallois’s Un parfum nomme Said (2003). In at least two of these films (Bezness and Un parfum nomme Said) the male protagonists — Roufa and Said — prostitute themselves through their “petit bezness” (“sex work”), to European male and female sexual tourists in Tunisia and Morocco in hopes of finding the financial means to flee the Maghreb for a better life in Europe.
