Play Dead (2001)

Dale Spitler, excellently played by the adorable Nathan Sexton, is a small town gay boy who hasn't had much of a chance to take his intense adolescent sexual fantasies and turn them into reality. His weekends are spent babysitting for 9 year-old Dustine, who has a remarkably morbid sense of humor (she plays dead a lot). Dustine's mom Darlene is a trailer park slut, but Dustine isn't really Darlene's kid anyway - her first husband left her behind! You get the picture –it’s a typical day in rural America until Dale's best friend Violet (Frank Zappa’s daughter Diva) has a freak accident and blows up the wrestling star Raymond's pickup. She run's to Darlene's trailer - fetches Dale and Dustine and off they go on an evening's adventure that will bring new meaning to the word kinky. Dale has always lusted after Raymond - he was jerking off to his yearbook photo earlier that evening - so when this gorgeous, muscular, smooth body presents itself he just can't resist - so what if he's dead! The acting is sometimes over the top and the jokes are ridiculous, but there is something irresistible about Play Dead.

I went to Odyssey today and found this film, the cover looked interesting, so i bought it. Am not so sure if im liking it, i got bored while watching it but i thought you might want to check this film so i made a post. What do you think about the film? Have you heard about this film before?

A young man tells us time and again and how he imagines his faithful lover getting into various sexual encounters in order to detach himself from the man who takes care of him everyday. The dying man imagines that the lover is cooking up something fishy in the kitchen. He also creates a scenario in his mind where his lover always meets strangers on the streets to have a quick sexual gratification. But the more delusions of unfaithfulness he creates in his mind, the more his lover's faithfulness is affirmed as he cooks his every meal and patiently feeds him. Even with few breaths left to live, his lover gives him the best lovemaking he can bring to eternity. Truly, love and sex can be full of irony.

Reflecting a social networking-saturated youth culture where YouTubers like William Sledd and Chris Crocker speak directly to millions of kids, including teenage girls and emo boys alike, OMG/HaHaHa offers a deeper, digitally filtered view into the seemingly superficial psyches of the MySpace generation. In the tradition of edgy and cutting edge filmmaking inspired by Harmony Korine, Gus Van Sant, and Greg Araki, OMG/HaHaHa weaves a simple narrative together via part video blog, part improvisational narrative, and part pseudo documentary. The film is a pastiche of the lives of a diverse set of twenty-something gay, straight, and trans teens living in Memphis and dealing with flesh and blood issues, ranging from unexpected pregnancy to homophobia to dying parents.
