Siblings Helena and Sebastián live in a crumbling colonial villa with their dying mother, a former pop star, in central Mexico. ON THE BUS (2001)

On The Bus' original intention was to be a fun-loving, rambunctious, half-hour Internet program about a group of young, gay men on a bus trip from Los Angeles to Burning Man, a festival of radical self expression in the Nevada desert. However, after returning from a week of shooting, stereotypes had fallen apart, and it became clear that this story had far more to tell than a half hour internet show could lend. Almost immediately On The Bus challenges the viewer with the notion that "Even in absolute freedom, some things are still sacred." - Damon Intrabartolo (cast member #6) . It is here that Director Dustin Lance Black begins this story. Lance is hired by The Digital Entertainment Network (DEN) to produce, direct and participate in an Internet reality show with an all gay cast. He then hires Billy Kaufman as co-producer and cast member number two. Charles Kinsley, a gorgeous actor/waiter, Jason Webb, porn star Dean O'Conner, and Jimmy Sjodin, a Swedish Olympic diver soon follow. When they do kiss and make love it’s as sweet any lovemaking scene we’ve seen. With scenes of Buddhist prayer shot in an ancient Thai Temple, there’s a feeling that God is watching over these two young men in love. Steambath

Witty seventies play set in a steambath with God portrayed as a Puerto Rican attendant features a pair of gay lovers who do a marvelous rendition of “Let Me Entertain You” from Gypsy.
Novelist Bruce Jay Friedman’s razor-sharp and still outrageous comedy portrays God as an overworked steambath attendant who doles out “wrath” and “blessed events” (including giving Debbie Reynolds an ear infection) to a machine in between assignments of scrubbing floors and walls. Bill Bixby and Valerie Perrine star, along with Jose Perez, as the wisecracking, blasé, card-trick-playing Lord, who watches while a collection of assorted types – a juvenile delinquent, an old time seaman, a naked ingénue, a Jewish guy nurtured on 30’s culture, a pair of campy gay men, and a gambler addicted to the stock market – sit amidst the sweat and mist seemingly uncertain of exactly why they are there. Wonderfully campy, witty and wise – a stretch for these television actors, but they make the grade.

Consenting Adult

Young and shy Jeff discovers his attraction to men. After struggling with himself he comes out to his parents. Mum eventually listens to his son and tries to understand his feelings, but his Dad would rather die – which, in the end, he really does, leaving behind a mother, her son and his friend to work those things out Jeff and his Dad had never the courage to talk about.
Although a much praised made-for-TV movie, this earnest drama offers little more than a near-two hours of uninterrupted preaching about the torment and pain of homosexuality. Marlo Thomas and Martin Sheen play a loving, upper-middle-class couple whose lives are torn apart when their son announces, “Mom, I am a homosexual.” The son is seen as perfect, except for this “problem.” Dad nearly disowns him, mom goes into hysterics and the son ends up on a psychiatrist’s couch. It is not until he proclaims, “I’m a queer, a fag, a fairy, a homosexual” with conviction that the parents stop their ranting, regrets and denials.

ANGELOS (1982)
